Principal
Renato Veerasammy, C.Eng., P.Eng., PE, BSSO, is a Designated Consulting Engineer licensed to practice in both, Ontario and the Northwest Territories and has an American PE license to practice in Delaware.
Renato has been involved in engineering projects for over 42 years in Canada, US, Europe, Asia, South America and Middle East. Renato is a Certified Thermographer and designated BSSO with Ontario Building Envelope Council and is an active member of ASTM, (ASTM E 6, E 53 and E 58) and CSC.
Renato’s professional expertise includes; building science, condition assessments, financial planning, performance audits, reserve fund studies, technical expert in legal, Tarion warranty and insurance claims, assessment and performance of materials and systems, failure analysis of materials, technical review of components and systems for code compliance, designing of test
programs for material and systems. In the first part of his professional development he was employed by top notch research corporations such as Ontario Research Foundation.
In the last 24 years Renato’s practice predominantly focused on Building Science and Forensic Engineering for commercial and residential buildings, including condominiums, hotels, churches, TTC stations, water treatment plants, shopping malls, long term care, office towers and university campuses.
Within his practice, Renato has applied, on behalf of clients, in numerous jurisdictions for a variety of building permits, including applications for alternate methods under the OBC, section 4, variances and by-law, modifications of the OBC based on applied research, obtained minister ruling, and federal and provincial approvals for non-compliant materials and systems.
From 2016 to 2019 Renato was invited lecturer to University of Toronto teaching Engineering Strategies and Practices.
In 2002 to 2017 Renato was invited to join the CCCME board of NRC/IRC to provide input on the evaluation of new construction products and systems and had served five three year-terms.
In 2011 Renato was appointed to the Canadian Commission on Building and Fire Codes as a voting member of the standing committee on energy efficiency in buildings.
In 2011 Renato was appointed by the PEO as a voting member of the Forensic Engineering guideline subcommittee.
In 2014 Renato was appointed to the Canadian Commission on building and fire codes subcommittee on Whole Building Air Leakage Study.
Associate
Monica Balaj, MBA, B. Eng, has a project management Master Degree from LSBF, UK, an Engineering Degree from Europe, a Canadian Certificate in Project Manager, a Condominium General License in Ontario. In 2018, Monica has taught The Role of Women in Engineering at University of Toronto. Monica has held progressive senior management positions in project management, commercial and residential property management, specifically in condominium, managing multi-million dollar operating and capital budgets.
